<p>Heteroaryl N-(benzimidazol-2-yl)carbamates are useful as anthelmintics and antifungals. The heteroaryl group is furyl, thienyl, pyridyl, thiazolyl, oxazolyl, isothiazolyl, isoxazolyl, or thiadiazolyl: it and the benzomoiety of benzimidazole group may be substd., the 1-N of the benzimidazole may be substd. by hydrocarbon groups. The cpds. are prepd. by treating an S-alkyl isothiourea with a heteroaryl chloroformate in aqs. base, and then treating the product with an ortho-phenylenediamine in aqs.-ethanolic acid soln. The example is 4-thiazolyl N-(5-butyl-benzimidazol-2-yl)carbamate.</p> |
