<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a tension measuring apparatus having a simple and inexpensive structure in which tension and tensile balance can be determined with high accuracy without causing any damage on the surface of a ribbon body. SOLUTION: The tension measuring apparatus comprises a noncontact displacement gauge 3 for detecting the displacement of a ribbon body 1 on the left and right sides in the widthwise direction thereof and delivering a displacement signal, an operating unit 4 for determining the frequency characteristics of the displacement signal and extracting a peak frequency component, comparing the peak frequency components on the left and right sides in the widthwise direction and determining the phase difference of the peak frequency components in the widthwise direction, specifying the primary natural frequencies on the left and right sides in the widthwise direction if a peak frequency component of reverse phase is present and determining tension on each side and total tension based on the primary natural frequencies, specifying a primary natural frequency common to the left and right sides in the widthwise direction if a peak frequency component of reverse phase is not present and determining total tension based on the primary natural frequencies, and a Fourier transform unit 11.</p> |
