Asymmetric, optimized common-source bi-directional amplifier

A microwave common source bi-directional amplifier includes a first amplification path and a second amplification path wherein the signal directional flow is controlled through selective biasing. During a receive mode, a receiver amplifier directionally couples a signal from a second port to a first port during a receive mode, and the transmitter amplifier is biased off during that mode. During the transmit mode the transmitter amplifier directionally couples a signal between the first port and the second port, and the receiver amplifier is off during that mode. <IMAGE>
