[Also in Division C3] The invention comprises 1,3-diisocyanates of adamantane or of a mono- or di-alkyladamantane containing 1-20 carbon atoms in the alkyl group(s). The products are obtained from the corresponding diamino compounds or their hydrochlorides by phosgenation. An example describes the preparation of 1,3-diisocyanato- 5,7-dimethyladamantane. Other suitable adamantane derivatives for use as starting materials are specified also. |
