A radial gap (6) width measurement procedure uses a leakage flow (8) along the gap between rotatable (4) and stationary (5) components to evaluate the difference between the radial gap pressure and flow pressure at some distance (11) along the flow. Independent claims are included for equipment using the procedure. The measured gap can be printed (14) or used to activate a warning lamp (15).
