A vehicle multimedia communication procedure for network linked microcomputer (C) units (D1, D2) uses unidirectional lines (L1, L2) with transmitter (TX) and receiver (RX) using an (RS232) interface in a MOST (Media Oriented System Transport) network with network failure leading to connection of a second CAN (Controller Area Network) network using driver software to emulate the RS232 interface. Independent claims are included for a network using emulation software implementing the procedure.
