An electric power steering apparatus having a reduction mechanism in which an inner peripheral face of a fitting hole (31) provided to a gear housing (8) is formed into an inclined face inclined with respect to a worm shaft (70) so as to fit with and hold a bearing (16) to which a worm shaft (70) for transmitting rotating force of a steering assisting motor (6) to a steering shaft (4) provided with a worm wheel (72), an inclined contact surface (16a) in contact with the inclined face is provided on an outer periphery of the bearing (16), and the inclined contact surface (16a) of the bearing (16) is moved along the inclined face of the fitting hole (31) to adjust a distance (H) between a shaft center of the worm shaft (70) and a rotation center of the worm wheel (72).
