PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method of compensating a luminance of a plasma display panel are provided to prevent signals with the same brightness from being signal with different brightness caused by a load effect through using a differential compensating value corresponding to a mean value of each line of an input signal. CONSTITUTION: An A/D converter(10) is used for converting an input image. A scaler(12) is used for converting an image frequency according to a resolution and a vertical frequency of a module. A frame memory(11) is used for converting the vertical frequency of the input image. An image controller(14) is used for controlling a contrast value and a luminance value of the image that users want. A control unit(13) controls the A/D converter, the scaler, the frame memory, and the image controller. The control unit produces a differential luminance compensating value according to a luminance mean value by reading a luminance distribution value of each line image inputted into the frame memory. |
