PURPOSE: A method for executing a function of a mobile communication terminal by using an abbreviated button is provided to set a function executed according to the number of inputting times of an abbreviated button on a user menu after defining a specific key as the abbreviated button, and to carry out the set function according to the number of the inputting times if a user presses the abbreviated button, thereby increasing user convenience. CONSTITUTION: A user selects an abbreviated button setup menu through a user menu of a terminal by pressing a keypad(S200). The terminal displays a menu which can be assigned to an abbreviated button and an abbreviated button speed setup menu item(S202). If the user selects the abbreviated button menu(S204), the terminal displays a screen for setting a specific menu according to the number of inputting times of the abbreviated button(S206). The terminal sets a function executed according to the number of the inputting times, and stores the set function in a memory(S208).
