PURPOSE: A playing device and a method using a keypad in a mobile communication terminal are provided to display an array of keys in accordance with each specific song on a screen, and to compare keys inputted by a user with the arrayed keys to display a matched number of keys on the screen, thereby adding a musical instrument playing function to a terminal. CONSTITUTION: A keypad(108) comprises plural keys, wherein the keys are matched with sound sources which configure the musical scale one to one, and outputs key data to an MPU(100) when a key is inputted. The MPU(100) reads sound source data corresponding to the inputted key data from a table where various kinds of preset sound source data are stored, and outputs the corresponding sound source data to a melody chip(124) while the key is inputted. The melody chip(124) converts the sound source data into an audio analog signal, and outputs the converted audio analog signal to a speaker(116).
