PURPOSE: A gas cooking device and a cooking method thereof are provided to make rice both in iron and stone pots by regulating heating fire according to the characteristic of the iron and stone pots and to minimize gas consumption. CONSTITUTION: A gas cooking device(1) comprises a double-floor upper plate and a plurality of fire mouths(6) on upper and lower surfaces(3,4) of the upper plate. The fire mouths are installed on the lower surface of the upper plate more than the upper surface. The fire mouths are arranged in an M form with crossing each other. A control panel(8) disposed on the front side of the gas cooking device is aligned in an M form corresponding to the position of the fire mouth. Storage cases are disposed at both spaces of the upper surface of the upper plate.
