Reference compound for use in the analysis of levosimendan batches

Described is a pyridazinyl derivative (I) and its use as a reference compound in the determination of potentially toxic impurities in levosimendan samples. An analytic method of the determination of potentially genotoxic impurities in levosimendan samples is also described, wherein (I) is used as a reference compound. Levosimendan is a medicament useful in the treatment of heart failure.
