PURPOSE: Provided is a method of extracting green tea(Thuja orientalis) by using carbon dioxide at supercritical conditions. The extract of green tea is obtained in a higher yield, its denaturation is prevented and the extraction solvent does not remains. And the extract is harmless to the human body. CONSTITUTION: Leaves of green tea are ground and mixed with a cosolvent in a volume ratio of 1:0.01 to 1:10 and extracted with carbon dioxide at 31 to 90deg.C and 71 to 800atm. The cosolvent is selected from the group consisting of methanol, ethanol, ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, 1,3-butylene glycol, glycerol, phytosqualan and a mixture thereof. A cosmetic composition contains 0.001 to 50% by weight of the green tea extract.
