PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve measurement accuracy for a pattern dependent jitter. SOLUTION: An E/O converter 23 is selected as a temporary measurement object. Using the pattern dependent jitter included in an optical data signal Pd1 to be outputted from the E/O converter 23 to the data signal D1 of a first pattern, this is accurately measured by another pattern measurement section 30 different from a jitter measurement section 24, a correction coefficient H is obtained from the measurement result by a correction coefficient calculating means 37, and a correcting means 38 corrects a value of the pattern dependent jitter obtained from the measurement result of the section 24 for the measurement object 1.
