PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently retrieve an image frame desired by a user concerning an image display method and program to read image data recorded in a recording medium and to display an image on a display. SOLUTION: Ages corresponding to each period (periods of childhood, schoolchild, junior high school student, high school student, college student, office worker) of a user are specified from the birth date information of the user. The birth date information of image frames in a DVD is read, and the image frames are grouped for each period. A display 23 is made to display period buttons 57 to 62 showing the respective periods of the user and a time axis 55 side by side.
