Pref. each of several parallel pre-heated yarns each pass between an associated nip defined between a pref. low friction convexly curved stationary surface and a common endless belt having a high friction surface and moving transversely to the yarn, such hat the yarn deviates at the nip and follows a V-shaped path. The invention improves on the arrangement disclosed in the parent patent.
