Production of rubber-modified styrene polymers (I) comprises (1) producing rubber (II) dispersion by anionic dispersion polymerization of diene and optionally styrene monomer(s) in 3-6 carbon aliphatic hydrocarbon (III) which is nonsolvent for (II); (2) mixing intensively with styrene monomer and optionally comonomer, without separating (III), to dissolve (II) in monomer(s); and (3) anionic or free radical polymerization of (II) solution to (I) and simultaneous removal of (III). An independent claim is also included for rubber-modified styrene polymers made by this process.
