PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ecofriendly copolymer latex which does not emit e.g. formaldehyde able to act as a substance causing room air pollution (as sick house syndrome) and exhibits excellent long-term storage stability. SOLUTION: The ecofriendly copolymer latex comprises 100 pts.wt. (in terms of solids content) copolymer latex, at least 0.001 pt.wt. benzoisothiazoline-based compound represented by formula (1), and at least 0.001 pt.wt. 2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one and has an oxidation-reduction potential of -100 to +300 mV. The copolymer latex is obtained by emulsion-polymerizing a monomer mixture comprising unsaturated carboxylic acid alkyl esters and other vinyl monomers copolymerizable therewith (except aromatic vinyl monomers and methylol-containing monomers).
