PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting-off apparatus drastically improved in the working efficiency in cutting-off a long workpiece, whereby an accurate cutting-off operation is achieved. SOLUTION: A connecting section 2 to be fitted on and connected to a long workpiece 1 at a required position is provided with: an engagement portion to be engaged with and loaded with the workpiece 1; and a movable portion 4 disposed opposite to the engagement portion and moving away from and approaching the engagement portion 3, and an arm portion 6 is connected to the movable portion 4. When the movable portion 4 is made to approach the engagement portion by means of the arm portion 6, the workpiece 1 is cut off by means of the movable portion 4 and the engagement portion. The connecting section 2 is composed of opposing members 7, 8 which are arranged so as to face to each other and fitted into the workpiece 1 so as to grip the workpiece 1. One opposing portion of the opposing members 7, 8 is pivotally connected with each other. The other portion of the opposing members 7, 8 is opened by swiveling the opposing members 7, 8 about the pivoted portion. The connecting section 2 is configured so as to fit into the workpiece 1 at the required position from the direction of the width of the workpiece 1 perpendicular to its longitudinal direction.
