PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine tool which performs high accuracy machining and efficiently maintains a sliding guide surface. SOLUTION: This machine tool 1 is provided with: a bed 5; a workpiece holding mechanism 10; a frame-like fixed frame 15; a frame-like moving frame 16 supported to the fixed frame 15 movably in a Z-axis direction; a saddle 17 supported to the moving frame 16 movably in an X-axis direction; a quill 18 held in a holding hole 17a of the saddle 17 movably in a Y-axis direction; and a tool holding mechanism 20. The quill 18 is formed with a vertically passing elongate hole with its longitudinal direction placed along the Y-axis direction, and the saddle 17 is formed with a vertical through hole vertically overlapping with the elongate hole. The machine tool 1 is further provided with a feeder 77 comprising a fed member fixed to the saddle 17, and a driving member disposed at the moving frame 16 in a state of being inserted through the through hole and the elongate hole to move the fed member in the X-axis direction.
