PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spring making method and device by which a coil-like spring is produced in a short time and in which no sludge is generated. SOLUTION: A spring making device 10 produces a spring 5 by winding a wire W on a rotating mandrel 13 and by transferring a wire feeder 18 from a first clamp chuck 14 to a driving chuck 12. After a first spring 5A is sent to the right side, the wire W to be coiled on the mandrel 13 is supplied from the wire feeder 18 in a range extending from the coiling starting position P1 to the coiling ending position P2 to make a second spring 5B. During this process, a cutting tool 20 is delivered to the coiling starting end of the first spring 5A that remains in the position of a cutter line L, thereby machining the bearing surface on the end of the spring 5A.
