The method for packing long, thin food products (1), e.g. French beans, comprises feeding them from a hopper (32) down a sloping ramp (15) into troughs (4) in a package. This is vibrated and moved backwards and forwards, so that the beans are aligned across the trough. An Independent claim is included for a machine for carrying out the method.
