<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform optimum control of output light quantity of a light source and to improve easiness of maintenance in an optical pickup, and an information recording and reproducing device. <P>SOLUTION: In the information recording and reproducing device, the optical pickup 200 is provided with an LD 221, a temperature detection part 228 for detecting the temperature of the light source, a wavelength detection part 224 for detecting the wavelength of light emitted from the light source, a monitor detection part 223 for detecting the optical intensity of the light source, and a storage part 229. The storage part 229 stores temperature dependent characteristic data expressing the change of the wavelength of the light source and a driving current with respect to the temperature change of the light source which are calculated by using the temperature detected by the temperature detection part 228, the wavelength of emitted light detected by the wavelength detection means 224, and the driving current to be applied to the light source so that the light intensity detected by the monitor detection part 223 are set to prescribed values, and a signal processing part 300 sets the driving current to be applied to the LD 221 to a light source driving part 226 by using the detection results of respective detection parts and the temperature dependent characteristic data. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
