PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a user-friendly video editing system, video editing device, video reproducing device and video editing method by which a user can perform an editing operation without looking away from a screen on which video to be edited is displayed. SOLUTION: A setting table 32a, in which a command for controlling a DVD recorder 11 is made correspond to the logical combination of an event generated by a wheel mouse 36 and the status information of the DVD recorder 11.is stored in a PC 30. When the user operates the wheel mouse 36, the status information of the DVD recorder 11 is acquired, a command that corresponds to the status information and an event generated by the operation is generated from contents of the setting table 32a, and the generated command is inputted to the DVD recorder 11 to thereby change the state of the DVD recorder 11.
