PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk drive improved so that a disk can be loaded stably when vertically installed. SOLUTION: The optical disk drive comprises a clamping mechanism which supports and rotates a disk facing a turntable installed on a spindle motor, and is characterized in that the clamping mechanism comprises a clamper approaching the disk by magnetic force by the approach of the spindle motor to the disk so that the disk may not come off the loading part, and a return member for separating the clamper from the disk by separation of the spindle motor from the disk. Thus, stable loading/unloading of the disk becomes possible by supporting the disk on one of the faces on the rear side of the turntable by the clamping mechanism. Moreover, also when the optical disk drive is vertically installed to use, not only a 120 mm disk for ordinary use but also a small diameter disk such as a 80 mm diameter disk can be loaded/unloaded stably.
