PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magazine type recording medium changer in which reading time of presence and absence information and class information or the like of the recording medium in each slot of the magazine that is taken out even after the magazine is reinserted. SOLUTION: In a magazine 1, a plurality of sensors 12, that detect presence or absence of a disk, is provided for a plurality of slots 11 to which a disk mounted tray is to be inserted. Presence or absence information of the disks from the sensors 12 is transmitted to a CD changer main body by a transmitter 14. Thus, extracting/inserting information of each disk within the magazine is radio transmitted to the CD changer main body and disk information of each CD in the magazine being saved in the CD changer main body is saved or erased in accordance with the extraction operation of a CD.
