PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording and reproducing medium which increases an amount of the push-pull signal of a pit signal by holding high recording density and has a large capacity and excellent reproducing characteristics.

SOLUTION: The optical recording and reproducing medium provided with pits and grooves in spiral recording tracks is constituted by making the track pitch of the pit regions provided with at least the pits greater than the track pitch of the grooves in at least the inner peripheral part of the recording region.
