<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently recognize an object that appears halfway in an animation. <P>SOLUTION: White areas within animation object image frames Fdy 1-Fdy last stored in a moving object image memory 9 are extracted. A temporary label characteristic of each white area is imparted, with the temporary label of the first animation object image frame Fdy 1 serving as the main label. As (i) is started from 2, the white area of the animation object image frame Fdy (i-1) that best matches the white area of the animation object image frame Fdy i in pattern is retrieved. When the retrieval was successful, the value of the main label imparted to the retrieved white area of the animation object image frame Fdy (i-1) is given to the white area of the animation object image frame Fdy i as the main label and both of the white areas are related with each other for the same object.
