<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a binder composition which is used for a monolithic refractory and of which the amount of a volatile component evaporated during hardening is small and the stickiness under heating is good. <P>SOLUTION: The binder composition contains a novolak-type phenol resin and a resol-type phenol resin. Preferably, the novolak-type phenol resin and/or the resol-type phenol resin is a boric-acid-modified phenol resin; the wt. ratio of the novolak-type phenol resin to the resol-type phenol resin is (95/5)-(50/50); and based on the total amount of the novolak-type phenol resin and the resol-type phenol resin, the denaturation ratio by boric acid is 3-30 wt.%. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
