<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control a lowering of an NO<SB>X</SB>absorbing capacity and improve a durability, in using an alkali metal as an NO<SB>X</SB>occluding element. <P>SOLUTION: The subject catalyst for cleaning of an exhaust gas is composed of a base material, a catalyst supporting layer coated thereon, and a noble metal and an alkali metal supported on this layer, wherein a zirconia layer is formed between the base material and the catalyst supporting layer. As zirconia is hard to react with the alkali metal and the alkali metal is hard to come close to it, the alkali metal is controlled in moving to the base material made from a cordierite. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
