PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of producing a high-quality glass fine particle deposit by depositing glass fine particles into a desired state by preventing the deformation of a raw material gas supply pipe; and a burner for forming glass fine particles. SOLUTION: The glass fine particle deposit is produced by using a burner 31 equipped with a raw material gas supply pipe 32a and a plurality of gas supply pipes 32b-32e which are arranged concentrically around the raw material gas supply pipe 32a and supply a plurality of gases, respectively, for forming flame for burning a glass raw material gas. Adjacent two pipes among the raw material gas supply pipe 32a and the gas supply pipes 32b-32e are joined at a plurality of points in the longitudinal direction. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
