PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that it needs a long time to discharge air and introduce gas because a plasma display panel (PDP) having barrier ribs with a mesh-like structure has a narrow exhaust passage. SOLUTION: Each barrier rib of a PDP has a structure in which clearances are disposed at two corners of each barrier rib with the mesh-like structure for partitioning discharge cells, and exhaust passages are formed in oblique directions among the cells, or exhaust passages meandering between the cells in odd numbered columns and even numbered columns are formed. Light-emitting luminance can be improved by arranging phosphors with the same color on bottom faces of the cells and on the side faces of the barrier ribs, and also reduction in crosstalk among pixels and restraint of increase in exhaust resistance can be achieved at each discharge cell connected by the clearances. The barrier ribs of the PDP can be produced by one time barrier rib forming process and a yield of manufacturing can be enhanced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
