PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low cost optical scanner having a plurality of light source devices and a low cost image forming apparatus, in which color slurring due to a temperature variation or the like is reduced, which has an excellent optical performance, in which a deflection means is made small, and in which power consumption is small and noise is low. SOLUTION: The device is characterized by that at least a scanning focusing lens L1 which is closest to a rotary polygon mirror 6 among lenses constituting a scanning optical system, is shared with light beams bm1 through bm4 emitted from the plurality of light sources, the light beams emitted from the respective light sources consists of a pair of light beams bm2 and bm3 have a predetermined distance from each other in the subscanning direction after they are deflected by the rotary polygon mirror 6 and are parallel to the plane orthogonal to the rotary axis of the polygon mirror 6, and the light beams bm1 and bm4 which are close to the pair of light beams on the deflection and reflection plane of the polygon mirror 6 and have an angle with respect to the plane orthogonal to the rotary axis of the polygon mirror.
