PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the revision of an error diffusion matrix pattern from being expressed on an output image even when the error diffusion matrix pattern is revised while attaining the revision of the error diffusion matrix pattern for suppressing the generation of a texture. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus is provided with an error diffusion processing section 216 for using an error diffusion matrix to weight surrounding pixels thereby diffusing a binary processing error of a target pixel when a read image signal in full colors is converted into a binary image signal. The error diffusion processing section 216 includes: a filter 2165 capable of using the error diffusion matrix including a plurality of patterns; and an error storage means 2166 for storing error data of each pixel, and the error storage means 2166 is configured to store the error data created in target pixels as they are and to sequentially decreasingly update the stored error data depending on the weight coefficient of the error spread matrix in use.
