PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device for which time required for injection of a liquid crystal is shortened. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is equipped with a first substrate 1, a slit 6 formed on a pixel electrode 4, a second substrate 8 with a transparent electrode formed thereon, a sealant to bond the first substrate 1 and the second substrate 8 along the nearly entire circumference, a protrusion 12 formed on the second substrate 8, an auxiliary protrusion 17 formed on the same surface as the protrusion 12 along an edge part of the pixel electrode 4, alignment layers 7, 13 laminated on both substrates 1, 8, a liquid crystal layer 14 interposed between both substrates 1, 8, a first polarizing plate 15 disposed on the first substrate 1 and a second polarizing plate 16 disposed on the second substrate 8 and having a transmission axis perpendicular to that of the first polarizing plate 15. The liquid crystal display device is constructed by disposing the protrusion 12 and the auxiliary protrusion 17 so as to ensure a route of a liquid crystal material, through which the liquid crystal material get to an edge opposite to a liquid crystal injection port in the liquid crystal injection without straddling over the protrusion 12 and the auxiliary protrusion 17 and without advancing in parallel to the edge where the liquid crystal injection port is located.
