The plastic operating component (1) for vehicle production has an elongated base component (3) which on its underside facing the body of the vehicle has an especially semi-spherical contact section (19) formed close to one end for engaging in a corresponding opening in the region of a guide rail section. An especially cubic engagement section (21) is formed close to the other end of the base component for fitting in a corresponding opening or behind a protrusion in the guide rail section. An especially cubic second engagement section (23) on the upper side of the base component engages in a large area cover element. An independent claim is included for a coating cover system with at least two plastic operating components for the retention of a large area cover element.
