摘要 <p>A supporting platen(1) has pistons(3) linked to a tool holding plate(1). Three or more sensors in the tool holding plate(2) are linked to a receiving unit(5) to allow transfer of data relating to the positions of points on the plate surface. Sensors(4) may be mini transmitters. The receiver(5) which is an antenna, connects with a data storage programmable control unit(SPS). The control unit may be part of the plastics processing machine control unit. Piston(3) length can be varied by the control unit in relation to detected changes in position of the holding plate surface. Sensors may be located in two tool holding plates and data transmitted to the receiver to allow plate parallelism to be monitored and corrected. An independent claim is included for a process for varying the position of a tool holding plate(2) in which: a) the position of the plate is determined by three or more sensors, each of which transmits its three-dimensional co-ordinates to a receiver; b) the receiver transmits the data on to a computer and/or control unit in which a mathematical profile of the plate surface is determined; c) the actual surface is compared with a set surface; d) deviations of the actual surface positions from those of the set surface positions are corrected by changing the length of one or more of the pistons.</p>
