GAS COMPRESSOR

A driver, of the kind that slows down when the power requirement exceeds the maximum driver power, driving a gas compressor (104; 204; 304)is regulated by recycling, via a pressure relief device (102; 202; 302), compressed gas to the compressor inlet when the discharge pressure reaches a designated pressure thereby increasing the mass flow rate through the compressor. The method has particular application to reducing flare loading in a baseload LNG plant.
