<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce noise in the peripheral circuits of drivers for driving laser elements which are made to correspond to two kinds of recording media having different thickness. <P>SOLUTION: The laser element driving circuit of an optical pickup is provided with a first laser driver 8 which drives a first laser element 1, a second laser driver 14 which drives a second laser element 2, an oscillating circuit 3 which oscillates high frequency signals that are to be superimposed on both the first and the second laser drivers 8 and 14, a frequency selecting circuit which selects oscillation frequency of the oscillating circuit 3 to be outputted to the first and the second laser drivers 8 and 14, and an output selecting circuit which performs selection of the high frequency signal output of the oscillating circuit either to the first laser driver 8 or to the second laser driver 14.
