<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce rotational unevenness of a photoreceptor to eliminate exposure deviation and transfer deviation due to the the rotational unevenness, image unevenness and image failure, and to shorten an operation time for changing developing colors. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with: an image carrier 3, on which a latent image is formed; a latent image forming means 5 for forming the latent image; a plurality of developing units 2 having developing rolls and carrying a developer to develop the latent image; and a rotary developing device 1, which moves rotatably to a developing position facing the image carrier 3 while supporting the plurality of developing units 2 along the outer periphery. The plurality of developing units 2 are sequentially moved rotatably to the developing position by the developing color changeover operation, and the latent image formed on the image carrier 3 is developed and is transferred to a medium 4 at the transfer position 7 to form the image. The developing unit 2 at the developing position is made abut on the image carrier 3 on the nitdownstream side in the rotating direction of the rotary developing unit 1 than a straight line connecting the center of the rotary developing device 1 and the center of rotation of the image carrier 3. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
