PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display element in which lowering of an opening ratio of a pixel is suppressed. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display element 100 is constituted of an active matrix substrate 50 or the like. The active matrix substrate 50 has a plurality of auxiliary capacitance lines 6b arranged so as to be extended in parallel with one another, a plurality of pixel electrodes 15 arranged along each of the plurality of auxiliary capacitance lines 6b, constructing a matrix as a whole and respectively having a TFT 20, a plurality of first light shielding films 13 arranged on the liquid crystal layer 70 side of the TFT 20 of each of the plurality of pixel electrodes 15 so as to cover the TFT 20 and a plurality of auxiliary capacitance electrodes 4b connected to the TFT 20 of each of the plurality of pixel electrodes 15. Each of the plurality of first light shielding films 13 is electrically connected to the auxiliary capacitance line 6b at a position corresponding to the auxiliary capacitance electrodes 4b corresponding thereto.
