PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve the specific differential restriction force in advance by the preload of a preload spring, and to miniaturize a differential device as a whole. SOLUTION: This differential device comprises a differential case 29 having an accommodating hole 65, a pair of side gears 31, 33 relatively rotatably supported in the differential case 29, and a short pinion gear 35 and a long pinion gear supported in the accommodating hole 65 of the differential case 29 rotatably on a center of rotating axle in parallel with a center of rotating axle of the differential case 29 to engage and connect the side gears 31, 33 with each other, to interlock and rotate the differential case 29 and the side gears 31, 33 and to permit the relative rotation of the side gears 31, 33. The side gear 33 is provided with an accommodating space part 85, the preload spring 87 is accommodated in the accommodating space part 85, and the side gears 31, 33 are energized in the direction along the center of rotating axle by the preload spring 87 and brought into contact with a differential case 29 side to achieve the specific differential restriction force.
