PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a picture projection method and a picture projection device in which a monitor area where the entrance of a person or the like into the optical path of the picture projection device is monitored is automatically detected and set without depending on a projection condition such as the arranging position of a projection area and a projection shooting angle from a projection light source to a screen. SOLUTION: In the picture projection method to project projected light corresponding to image information by a projection means 10, a range including the projection area 17 where the projected light is projected is detected by a projection area detection means 11 and the projection area 17 is specified, and then the monitor area 15 where the entrance of an entering body is monitored is set along the projection area 17.
