PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide simple cooling constitution where two problems on the cooling of a lamp being an illumination means and the prevention of the scattering of broken pieces of the lamp at the burst time are made compatible. SOLUTION: The video display device such as a liquid crystal projector is not only constituted so that cooling air is made to blow inside a reflector in order to cool a lamp means, but constituted to use a mesh having expanded metal structure used both as a means for preventing the scattering of the broken pieces when the lamp bursts and a baffle plate aiming at a cooling spot, whereby two functions are satisfied with simple constitution.
