A melt distribution system(20) has a valve system(24) feeding hot runner channels(10) with nozzles(16) supplying each tool. A support(2) carrying the melt distribution unit and hot runner channels with nozzles moves relative to the tools and can be coupled to them. The valve system can be set in three or more positions so that one tool or at least two tools can be simultaneously connected to the injection unit. Two or more tools may be carried by separately controled and operated tool clamping units. The support(2) moves independently of the tools and/or injection unit(30) along guides(8) and is located outside the clamping units. Two or more tools in a single clamping unit may be arranged as a multi-daylight tool. Support movement is parallel to or perpendicular to tool movement direction. The guides may be mounted on the machine base of the injection unit and injection unit and support moved along a common guide. Support and injection unit may be coupled together for combined movement or the support is moved by its own hydraulic or electrical drive unit. The valve system(24), which has controled heating, comprises an axially moving and sealing multi-function bolt which can be shifted into different axial positions to selectively connect a feed channel of the injection unit with one or more hot runner channels(10) and their respective tools. The bolt can also move to a position which allows free discharge of melt without passing through the hot runner channels. Sensors determine the bolt position. Controlable locking or clamping members couple the support to the tools. Locking is by hydraulic, electrical or mechanical methods.
