<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrochemical gas sensor apparatus 11 for accurately determining whether an electrochemical gas sensor 15 normally operates. <P>SOLUTION: The electrochemical gas sensor apparatus 11 uses a switch means 21, releases a potentiostat 16 from a work electrode 12, a counter electrode 13 and a reference electrode 14 of the electrochemical gas sensor 15, and applies a voltage between the counter electrode 13 and the reference electrode 14. A charge is stored between the counter electrode 13 and the reference electrode 14 during normal operation, and an output current flowing in the work electrode 12 is changed by an influence of the stored charge when an application of the voltage is canceled. A change of the output current flowing in the work electrode 12 is absent or reduced during abnormal operation when the application of the voltage is canceled. The electrochemical gas sensor apparatus 11 monitors the output current when the application of the voltage between the counter electrode 13 and the reference electrode 14 is canceled, and determines whether the electrochemical gas sensor 15 normally operates. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
