<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To refer to a character string in a first language even after deciding a translation result at the time of translating the input first language into a second language. <P>SOLUTION: An input Japanese syllabary character string is KANA/KANJI-converted, and a translation processing is carried out, and the conversion result and the translation result are displayed (S11). When the displayed translation result is decided, the translation text and the translation result are stored so as to be associated with each other in an association storage area 424 (S17). When an operator wants to refer to the previously decided translation text during edition, the operator designates a position where the operator wants to see, and depresses a reference key so that the translation text stored so as to be associated can be reference-displayed.
