<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for detecting the abnormality of an image forming apparatus constituted so that the occurrence of abnormality is confirmed and informed even when specified abnormality detection is made ineffective. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus (1) manages setting to make the detection of various abnormalities occurring in a paper feeding part (32) and a paper supply part (40) effective or ineffective in an abnormality detection control ineffective flag managing table (21) for every paper supply tray (37 to 39). An abnormality detecting device (2) updates the content of the table (21) by operator's operation on an operation display part (3), registers the abnormality occurring in the apparatus (1) in log information (16), and performs abnormality warning display control to the display part (3) and abnormality informing control by lighting an operator call lamp (4) or sounding an abnormality notifying buzzer (5) based on the setting of a warning processing managing table (15). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
