PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite film composed of a polyimide-silica hybrid layer having good characteristics, including good heat resistance, scratch resistance, flame retardancy, surface resistance, adhesion and bending resistance, and a polyester substrate. SOLUTION: The film is obtained by applying (3) a coating resin composition containing (1) a methoxy-containing silane-modified polyimide resin and (2) an organic solvent of a boiling point≤210°C to one or both sides of (4) a polyester film and drying and hardening the resultant body. The resin (1) is produced by ring-opening esterification of (1-1) a polyimide resin having a carboxy group and/or an acid anhydride group at the end(s) of the molecule, being soluble in an organic solvent and showing an imide ring closing rate≥90% with (1-2) a partial condensate of an epoxy-containing methoxysilane obtained by the methanol removal reaction of (1-2a) an epoxy compound having one hydroxy group with (1-2b) a partial condensate of a methoxysilane.
