Background illumination module for liquid crystal display panel using light wave conductor plate illuminated via lamp adjacent its side edge with cylindrical reflectors spaced across its bottom surface

The background illumination module has a light wave conductor plate (18), receiving light from a lamp (14) positioned adjacent its side edge and enclosed by a housing (12) for reflection of the emitted light in the direction of the light wave conductor plate. Several cylindrical reflectors (16) are spaced apart across the bottom surface of the light wave conductor plate, the height of the reflectors increasing with their distance from the illuminated side edge. An independent claim for a liquid crystal display is also included.
